As Christ redeemed believers, we have been blessed with the Spirit of I am and from His Spirit comes our enablement to do the good works that we are created to do (Eph 2:10). How many times do we put off doing that thing we know we need to do because of _____________? The blank can be filled with an endless list of reasons (excuses). However, when we choose to fill that blank with excuses rather than act in our best interest, we put off our progress, blessing, growth, deliverance, and impact on the world around us. We stop ourselves from stepping forward to fulfill God’s divine purpose and find ourselves boxed in by ‘what ifs’ and the ‘if onlys.’ There is no doubt you can. God built you for it and planned your life around it.
For from Him [all things originate] and through Him [all things live and exist] and to Him are all things [directed]. To Him be glory and honor forever! Amen.- Romans 11:36
Don’t stop picking up the brick and mixing the mortar. Don’t stop making plans and gathering the resources. Don’t stop pushing through the rough stops and disappointments. It may be tedious and physically and mentally challenging work. Still, you are building a legacy that will not only attest to your efforts but to God’s awe-inspiring goodness and faithfulness.
God did not put the idea in your heart and the opportunity before you to run off and do it alone, your way. Instead, He placed it before you and then surrounded you with Him, the source that makes all the excuses invalid, the obstacles irrelevant, and the purpose possible. The excuses are no longer a reason why something isn’t possible. The obstacles may be there, but they become movable or climbable. The purpose can be fulfilled because you are receiving the plans, resources, and strength from the One who came up with it in the first place.
“If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage—our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit]." -Galatians 5:25 (AMP)
The reasons and challenges will come but remember that God is always there to confirm you, empower you, to recenter you on your purpose. We are to write and record the vision of where we are heading (Hab 2:2-3). It helps us is times of discouragement while we are journeying there. And most importantly, we are reminded to acknowledge God in all things so that He can direct our steps (Pro 3:6). He wants us to know where we are going, and He wants us continuously talking to Him along the way (1Thess 5:17-18). Invite God in on the journey and the conversation because He is the One that will empowers you to discard the excuses and walk in the purpose for which you are created.
Lord, thank You that You are here with us. Help us to move past the excuses and reasons. Help us walk in Your Spirit and not take for granted the provision, strength, and guidance that comes from living this life with You using Your principles and wisdom. Forgive for our disobedience and comfort us in our times of disbelief. Increase our faith and our faithfulness to You. Thank You for love and mercies, and in Jesus Name Amen
My first try at a comment got lost. Trying again!
Y'all inspired a poem. Hope you like it.
There is of course no way to know,
but I'd sure place a bet
that that last men at the Alamo
said, "It ain't ever yet!"
Likewise at Thermopylae,
when the Persians held the upper hand,
the Spartans kept their hope in play
while any could still stand,
and so, my friend, do not give up
however bleak the view;
don't drink from the hemlock cup
that may be passed to you.
Though you may break, don't ever bend,
and stand with giants to the end.
Well said!
